After a successful camp in 2017, Solab & Onboard Tracker were proud to sponsor an activity day for the 46th and 53rd Aberdeen Boys’ Brigade Companies on their annual Summer Camp at Badaguish near Aviemore.
Boys took part in canoeing on Loch Morlich led by instructors Tracey and Ian Pullen of Active Spirit (www.activespirit.co.uk). The session introduced Boys to the basic skills and awareness required for a successful canoeing trip around the Loch. The Boys were presented with a Paddlepower Level 1 Certificate (see photo below!) on successful completion of the session.
In the afternoon, the Boys traveled to Glenmore Lodge where they took part in archery, being introduced to the equipment and developing their technique so that they could compete in a number of scoring challenges.
During the week the Boys took part in various other activities including mountain biking, hillwalking, swimming, football golf, visit to Landmark Forest Park and lots more.
WELL DONE MICHAEL!
Many thanks to Michael, one of our IT Support team here at Solab, for his continuous dedication as a Leader in the Boy’s Brigade and for helping to organise the Camp again this year. Well done, Michael!
Michael first joined the Boys’ Brigade at 5 years old and has been a member of the organisation ever since. Becoming a leader in the 46th Aberdeen Company in 2000, he gained overall responsibility as Captain in 2011. Activities that the BB offers includes sporting activities, developing skills though badgework and regular trips away. The Boys also provide a service for their local community of Kincorth, regularly holding events such as litter picking and food bank collections. Michael is also a member of the Battalion Executive committee and organises sporting events, quizzes and fun days for Boys in the Aberdeen and District area.
