What’s your career background?

I worked in various customer-facing roles for around 8 years before taking the decision to transition my career into the IT sector. Prior to joining Solab, I worked as a Service Desk Analyst for approximately 2 and a half years. I’m now excited to continue advancing my tech career in my current role.

What are you enjoying most about your new role?

I’m eager to learn new technologies and gain exposure to a variety of systems I haven’t encountered before. Witnessing how everything functions in the background is fascinating to me, especially seeing it all come together. Also, I’m very much looking forward to being part of a team where you can feel a sense of comradery and can have a good laugh.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

“If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.”

What has been your biggest challenge?

To this day, my biggest challenge has been shifting my career path to IT. After deliberating for years, it was during the pandemic that I finally decided to pursue my goal. Being in my late 20s and during a very unpredictable time, my imposter syndrome put up a fair fight. However, I managed to silence it and have never looked back since.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I am very much focused on wellness. I enjoy weightlifting and a little bit of leisure running while listening to rather heavy music. I also consume large amounts of health-related podcasts and occasionally bake unreasonably unhealthy cakes to balance it all.

When you were 5 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Not sure if I was 5 or perhaps slightly older, but my only dream was to become a tennis player. However, 25 years later, I’ve never even set foot on a tennis court. Nonetheless, I do quite enjoy a game of table tennis here and there!
