Football legend Gary Lineker has encouraged local golfers Neil Archibald, Keith Young, Graeme McDonald and Barry Hulse from Aberdeen City and Shire to swing into action for charity this summer, by taking part in Macmillan‘s Longest Day Golf Challenge 2010.
Sponsored by Aberdeen-based IT Support Provider, Solutions, the team will tee-off on Sunday 25th July at 4:30am when they hope to raise more than £3,000 in sponsorship for the cancer care charity by playing four rounds of golf in just one day.
The team will play Banchory, Inchmarlo, Braemar and Ballater aiming to finish before its too dark.
Team captain Neil Archibald says: “We can’t wait to take part in Macmillan’s golfing challenge, not only will it be a fun day out but we will be helping a very worthwhile cause. We’ve all got friends and family members directly affected by cancer and we’re keen to do as much as we can to help raise valuable funds for Macmillan.
It’s a tough challenge to complete four rounds of golf in one day, but we’ll be spurred on knowing every single hole played will be raising money to help people living with cancer. We’re extremely grateful for all the support we’ve received so far, particularly from Solutions, as we work towards our fundraising goal.”
Gary Lineker, who is supporting the event, adds: “I wish everyone taking part in the event good luck. It is for such a great cause, Macmillan Cancer Support does truly wonderful work and deserves our support. Play well and play quickly."
